You are living in a tent, but you are headed for a city. The question is not whether this city is real. The question is whether you are thirsty enough to want it.

You will never sin again, not because your will is chained, but because your nature is changed.
• 5Heaven is not for everybody. It is for the thirsty. God extends the cup freely and without cost — but He will not force it past your lips. The question is whether you will drink.

Practical ways to apply this message to your life.

• The next time you catch yourself anxious about your house, your car, your career trajectory — pause and whisper to your own soul: I am living in a tent. Abraham did the same and was called the friend of God. Loosen your grip on temporary things. Hold them the way you hold a hotel towel — gratefully, but loosely, knowing you are checking out soon.
• When loneliness presses in — and it will — remind yourself that you are headed for a city where suspicion of others' motives will be impossible, where isolation cannot survive, and where every face you see will wear everlasting joy like a crown. Let that future reality give you courage to pursue imperfect community now, even when it costs you.
• Think often about the moment you will stand before Christ face to face. Do not default to imagining a scowl or an emotionless stare. Jesus prayed — actually prayed — that you would be with Him where He is. He desires your company. Let that truth melt your shame and fuel your worship this week.
• If you are fighting a sin that feels unconquerable, take heart: there is a day coming when your very nature will be transformed so completely that temptation will not even have a scent in your world. You will be like Christ. That day is certain. So fight today not as one who fights alone or without hope, but as one whose victory is already purchased and waiting.
• If you have never surrendered your life to Christ, stop treating your thirst as something to be quenched by pornography, money, control, or pleasure. You are thirsty — that much is obvious by how desperately you keep drinking from broken wells. The water of life is offered without payment. Talk to Him right now. He is not far.
